Albert Burbank

Most clarinetist in the New Orleans revival tradition cites George Lewis as a major influence. To me, hearing Albert Burbank was the turning point, making me want to get involved with traditional New Orleans jazz. Burbank is characterized by his unorthodox bent tone, rythmic inventiveness and energetic attac. His style is best captured on earlier recordings, most notably with trumpeter ”Wooden Joe” Nicholas.
